Nutrition

Introduction of Nutrition

Hello, My Name is Nurazimah Binti Simadi but you can call me, Zeemah Simadi, And We have learn about Nutrition. Nutrition is defined as the processes by which an animal or plant takes in and utilises food substances. Essential nutrients include protein, carbohydrate, fat, vitamins, minerals and electrolytes. Normally, 85% of daily energy use is from fat and carbohydrates and 15% from protein. In humans, nutrition is mainly achieved through the process of putting foods into our mouths, chewing and swallowing it. The required amounts of the essential nutrients differ by age and the state of the body, for example: physical activity, diseases present (e.g.prostate cancer, breast cancer or weakened bones – known as osteoporosis), medications, pregnancy and lactation. Nutrition is also is healthy for us because is good for us.

I'm thinking nutrition has individual's food choices depend on energy needs, nutrient needs and enjoyment. Family, friends and personal beliefs, including cultural and environmental considerations, also play a major role in people's food selection.

 FOOD PYRAMID

Do you know about food pyramid? Of Course. I think everyone know about food pyramid or maybe diet pyramid is a pyramid-shaped diagram representing the optimal number of servings to be eaten each day from each of the basic food groups. 41 years ago, The first food pyramid was published in Sweden in 1974. and the food pyramid introduced by the United State Department of Agriculture in the year 1992 was called the "Food Guide Pyramid. It was updated in 2005 and the replaced by MyPlate in 2011.

Food of Pyramid has 7 type:

Protein

Protein is a foods can help you shed those unwanted pounds -- and keep your belly full. But it's important to eat the right amount and the right kind of protein to get its health benefits. and also Protein They are one of the building blocks of body tissue, and can also serve as a fuel source. As a fuel, proteins contain 4 kcal per gram, just like carbohydrates and unlike lipids, which contain 9 kcal per gram. The most important aspect and defining characteristic of protein from a nutritional standpoint is its amino acid composition.

Seafood

Seafood is an excellent source of protein because it's usually low in fat. Fish such as salmon is a little higher in fat, but it is the heart-healthy kind: it has omega-3 fatty acids. and I like to eat fish and crab because is good for me and my family.

White-Meat Poultry

I know about chicken because Stick to the white meat of poultry for excellent, lean protein. Dark meat is a little higher in fat. The skin is loaded with saturated fat, so remove skin before cooking.

Milk, Cheese, and Yogurt

Not only are dairy foods like milk, cheese, and yogurt excellent sources of protein, but they also contain valuable calcium, and many are fortified with vitamin D. Choose skim or low-fat dairy to keep bones and teeth strong and help prevent osteoporosis.

Eggs

Eggs are one of the least expensive forms of protein.  But I think normal healthy adults can safely enjoy an egg a day.

Carbohydrate

Carbohydrates often get a bad rap or some a bad rap, especially when it comes to weight gain. But carbohydrates aren't all bad. It's Because of their numerous health benefits, carbohydrates have a rightful place in your diet. In fact, your body needs carbohydrates to function well. But some carbohydrates may be better for you than are others.

Fruits

Fruits is the healthy can feeling good. Fruits are the means by which these plants disseminate seeds. Many of them that bear edible fruits, in particular, have propagated with the movements of humans and animals in a symbiotic relationship as a means for seed dispersal and nutrition, respectively; in fact, humans and many animals have become dependent on fruits as a source of food. Fruits account for a substantial fraction of the world's agricultural output, and some (such as the apple and the pomegranate) have acquired extensive cultural and symbolic meanings. n common language usage, "fruit" normally means the fleshy seed-associated structures of a plant that are sweet or sour and edible in the raw state, such as apples, oranges, grapes, strawberries, bananas, and lemons.

Vegetables

In everyday usage, a vegetable is any part of a plant that is consumed by humans as food as part of a savoury meal. The term "vegetable" is somewhat arbitrary, and largely defined through culinary and cultural tradition. It normally excludes other food derived from plants such as fruits, nuts and cereal grains, but includes seeds such as pulses. The original meaning of the word vegetable, still used in biology, was to describe all types of plant, as in the terms "vegetable kingdom" and "vegetable matter". I know someone don't like vegetables and someone like vegetables.

Types of carbohydrates

There are three main types of carbohydrates:
  • Sugar. Sugar is the simplest form of carbohydrates. Sugar occurs naturally in some foods, including fruits, vegetables, milk and milk products. Sugars include fruit sugar (fructose), table sugar (sucrose) and milk sugar (lactose).
  • Starch. Starch is a complex carbohydrate, meaning it is made of many sugar units bonded together. Starch occurs naturally in vegetables, grains, and cooked dry beans and peas.
  • Fiber. Fiber also is a complex carbohydrate. Fiber occurs naturally in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and cooked dry beans and peas.

 Fat

I know everyone know about fat because Fats are an essential part of the diet.  Fat-soluble vitamins, such as Vitamin A, could not be absorbed without some fat in the diet.  Fat also supplies the body with energy.  It contains more energy than any other nutrient (9 calories per gram). There are different types of fat, including saturated fats and unsaturated fats.  Meanwhile, Saturated fats are normally solid at room temperature, while unsaturated fats are liquid.  Saturated fats and trans fatty acids (trans fats) are associated with negative health effects, including heart disease, cancer and etc.  On the other hand, unsaturated fats (monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats) may actually lower the risk for some diseases, including some cancers and heart disease.  In addition, mono and polyunsaturated fats actually raise good cholesterol levels while lowering bad cholesterol.

Vitamin

I Know about my Mom says because Vitamins is make people's bodies work properly. Although you get vitamins from the foods you eat every day, some foods have more vitamins than others. Vitamin has a type of 6:

  1. Vitamin A - is a fat-soluble vitamin which is stored primarily in the liver. Vitamin A is available in two is: Retinol, which is found in animal products and Beta carotene, which your body converts into vitamin A.
  2. Vitamin B - Its has its own individual properties and its own unique biological role to play.
  3. Vitamin C - is also known as ascorbic acid. It is known to be a powerful antioxidant in the body. Vitamin C is has a water-soluble essential vitamin that is quickly lost from your body, so daily intake is vital.
  4. Vitamin D - is produced by the body when the skin is exposed to sunlight. It is also found in foods of animal origin.
  5. Vitamin E - is a key antioxidant, so it is particularly important for a healthy of heart and blood supply. It is also very good for your skin. Fat-soluble vitamin E is only stored in your body for a short period of time, making regular intake is essential.
  6. Vitamin K - is has found in food, but it is also created by the bacteria in our intestines. K stands          for the Danish word "koagulation," meaning coagulation or clotting.

Minerals

I know about Although only small amounts - measured in milligrams (mg) or micrograms (ug) - of minerals are required in the diet, minerals have many important functions in the body including bone structure and regulating body fluids.

  1. Calcium
  2. Fluoride
  3. Iodine
  4. Iron
  5. Selenium
  6. Sodium
  7. Zinc

Electrolytes

I hear some people know about Electrolyte. Electrolyte is a compound which produces ions when dissolved in a solution such as water. These ions have either a positive or negative electrical charge, which is why we refer to these compounds as electrolytes. and Electrolytes is also has nutrition.

I hope Food pyramid can help us about diet.
